Spring is here! finally!

Hello everyone,

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! This week I’ve been working Spring with all my groups of toddlers this week and they love it. I have kept it very simple. Through the repetition of words while doing the activity they have learnt the vocabulary and they have also reviewed other topics such as counting, colors and patterns.

I found the activity in Google images, typing “spring crafts for toddlers” and I loved it because it was very simple and easy for the children to do but I was still able to work through this activity important skills like counting colors, relating different objects and working on visual – manual coordination.

The activity was about creating a spring scene with flowers made of tissue paper of different colors. They had to make little balls and stick them to branches. We used different colors and worked on them : blue, pink, green, red and yellow.

After this we continued decorating and we created a sky with clouds, the sun and added a tree. In some of the playgroups, we had time to add birds, ladybugs and butterflies.

We counted the flowers after too and we named the colors of the flowers. We reviewed all the vocabulary. The activity was very simple but they learnt a lot of new vocabulary and they were very engaged completing the activity.

Also in circle time I have introduced them a couple of new songs:

Los pollitos dicen pío pío pío https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTApI_rUZ2E

They absolutely love this song.

I also work the days of the week in every session with this song:

They love too and they ask for it. In a couple of sessions they all know the days of the week. I always add extra vocabulary to make sentences. So we also work on the day that we are at : Hoy es viernes (today is Friday) and Mañana es sábado (tomorrow is Saturday). This makes them think about the day they are in in Spanish, what they are doing that day and the day after and also they work making small construction sentences.

I also work in each session with puppets, I have plenty of animal puppets that I change every week. I also create puppets with other materials as socks, and they absolutely love to participate in the game.

They questions we are working on:

¿Cómo te llamas? Me llamo__________________

¿Cuántos años tienes? Tengo ___________________

¿De dónde eres? Soy de Nueva York

Introducing affection in Spanish

Un abrazo – a hug

Le mandamos un beso – Lets send him a kiss.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, if you have any questions, just let me know!

Wishing you all a great week,

With love,

Michelle
